OUR STORY

For Allerbusters founder Amara Barger, this challenge has never been abstract—it’s personal. As a third-grader, Amara suffered a life-threatening allergic reaction after eating a muffin baked by a trusted family friend. Despite the caregiver’s best intentions and full awareness of her condition, the mistake nearly cost Amara her life and required emergency medical treatment. The experience left her with a profound question: “If this could happen to me in a safe place, with people who knew my allergies, how many kids are exposed to similar risks—and may not be as fortunate?”
That moment became the spark for action. While attending a youth entrepreneurship program, Amara transformed her personal experience into a vision: To give children another layer of defense when they cannot always speak for themselves. To give caregivers one more safeguard amid the countless demands on their attention. With early support from schools and daycares, Amara launched Allerbusters: a simple, effective way to protect children with food allergies and bring peace of mind to the families and communities who care for them.
